Diving FAQ

What is the dive concierge service?
The dive concierge service is complimentary. Our staff will take care of moving, storing, and cleaning all guest equipment. The service is available for boat and shore diving during normal business hours.

For those who sign up for boat diving, equipment will be labeled and on the boat prior to the divers' arrival. Once on the boat, divers attach their BCD and regulator to their cylinder, and they are ready to go. At the end of the trip divers leave their equipment on the boat and our staff takes care of rinsing and storing guest equipment.

There is a drive through station at the entrance of the resort to pick up tanks for those who choose to shore dive off property.

Should dive courses be booked prior to arrival?
All dive courses should be booked before arrival at the resort to ensure that desired classes can be accommodated, and all required paperwork and medical forms are complete. Courses are all taught using PADI e-learning to minimize classroom time. To purchase e-learning, visit www.padi.com/courses, select the desired courses and use store number 2372 for Great Adventures Bonaire.

Can I pre-book my individual boat dives at Harbour Village?
Dive boat trips can be booked upon arrival. We suggest pre-booking during high occupancy periods.

Can I prepay for diving?
Diving or diving packages may be purchased with or without accommodation. The diving and accommodation packages include 6 or 11 boat dives, taken over 6 days, both with unlimited shore diving. Dive packages can be booked in advance or after arriving at the resort.

Should I be medically fit to dive?
All divers must monitor their own fitness levels and determine, with their physicians, if they are fit to dive. Those taking dive courses are required to complete a medical questionnaire in advance of the trip that can be requested by emailing divemanager@harbourvillage.com(opens in new window). If any of the answers on the medical form are a “YES”, this form must be signed by a physician on Page 2 stating that the diver is fit to dive. We do have the ability to schedule appointments with a local dive physician on Bonaire, but this will lead to a delay in the start of the course.

Is storage available for dive gear?
There are gear lockers next to the dive shop that are open from 8am until 5pm and a small number of private lockers for access to gear outside of business hours.

Does Great Adventures supply Nitrox?
Nitrox is available at 32%. A valid certification card must be shown to use it. There is no additional charge for Nitrox.

Does Great Adventures rent equipment?
Rentals available include BCDs, regulators, masks & snorkels, full foot fins, open heel fins and wetsuits. Sizes may be sent in advance to reserve rental equipment for use upon arrival.

Are two tank morning dives available?
Yes. Participating in the 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM boat dives back-to-back is considered a 2-tank boat dive. The dive boat returns to the dock between the 8:30am and 10:30am dive to pick up divers for the 10:30am dive. Those divers not participating in the 10:30am dive disembark, which takes no more than 15 minutes. There are nearby restrooms available for divers participating in the 2-tank boat dive (8:30am and 10:30am back-to-back).

Is it possible to shore dive from the resort?
There is a wonderful shore dive right from our beach with the wreck “Our Confidence” sitting at 18m / 60ft. Our coral restoration projects are accessible from shore as well as the dive site “Something Special” a short swim away.

How many and at what times are the daily dive boat trips?
Typically, there are three boat dives daily at 8:30am, 10:30am and 2pm. This schedule may change depending upon resort occupancy.
